An international team led by a Chinese paleontologist in Myanmar discovered a large ancient bird from the Cretaceous period and preserved in amber, the team announced on Monday. The amber fossil, which lived some 99 million years ago during the early stages of late Cretaceous period, was discovered in Hukawng Valley, Kachin, located in the northernmost state of Myanmar, according to a statement from team leader Xing Lida, a paleontologist with Beijing-based China University of Geosciences, sent to the Global Times on Monday.
